AquaThane® (Duragard) is a furniture finish quality, co-polymer acrylic urethane that can be used as a topcoat on any plain or decorative surface where maximum durability is required. It is a super hard topcoat with the flow-out of solvent-based material, in a water-based formula.
Basic Application
Clean the work surface, removing any dust or debris.
Using a brush, roller or spray unit, apply 2 even coats of AquaThane®. The best results are obtained by spraying the product.
Because AquaThane® has strong co-solvent properties, it is best to apply a coat of ColorSeal™ or AquaGard™ first. Allow this barrier coat to dry before proceeding with AquaThane®. This will prevent the disruption of any sensitive color glazing or artwork.
Permit AquaThane® to dry for approximately 4-6 hours between coats.
Allow AquaThane® to cure for 72 hours before polishing or rubbing smooth with steel wool or polishing compounds.
Tips
To spray, thin up to 20% with water.
Because of its ability to resist staining or marring, AquaThane® is excellent for kitchen cabinets, trim, tabletops and floors.
Can be used as a final clear topcoat over concrete for maximum durability. The concrete should first be coated with AquaBond™ or AquaGard™ for superior bonding and penetration of the substrate.
On floors and walkways use a minimum of 2 coats of AquaThane® over AquaBond™ or AquaGard™.
Available in a medium gloss, but can be polished to a full gloss.
